Air Fryer Fried Pickles are a crunchy, tangy snack that delivers all the bold flavor of deep-fried pickles without the grease. This easy-to-make appetizer pairs perfectly with a creamy sour cream and onion dip.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sliced dill pickles
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (e.g., Tabasco)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup finely minced onions
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (for dip)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (for dip)

Instructions

  1. Lay sliced pickles on a few paper towels and cover with additional towels. Press lightly and let sit for a few minutes to dry.
  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, flour, hot sauce, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. In a separate shallow bowl, add panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Dip each pickle slice into the egg wash, then coat both sides with breadcrumbs. Place on a baking sheet.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 400°F.
  6. Place pickles in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each one. Spray lightly with cooking oil.
  7. Air fry for 7 minutes, flip, spray again, and cook for another 7 minutes until golden and crispy.
  8. While pickles are frying, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, onions, garlic, dried dill, salt, and pepper in a bowl to make the dip.

Notes

  • Make sure the pickles are thoroughly dried to help the coating stick better.
  • Panko breadcrumbs provide a crunchier texture than regular breadcrumbs.
  • You can substitute hot sauce with sriracha for a different flavor profile.
  • Serve immediately for the crispiest texture.
