Apple Bread

This homemade apple bread is a cozy fall treat filled with juicy apples and a sweet cinnamon swirl. It’s moist, flavorful, and perfect for breakfast, an afternoon snack, or dessert. The recipe is easy to follow and captures the comforting taste of autumn in every bite.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chopped apples (Pink Lady, Gala, or Honeycrisp, peeled and chopped, about 2 apples)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease or line an 8×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar and cinnamon; set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk eggs and granulated sugar until well combined.
  4. Stir in melted butter and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, mixing until just combined. The batter will be thick.
  6. Fold in chopped apples gently.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle about three-quarters of the brown sugar mixture over it.
  8. Add the remaining batter and sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon mixture on top.
  9. Use a knife or spoon to gently swirl the cinnamon sugar through the batter.
  10. Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  11. Let cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Add chopped walnuts or pecans for a crunchy texture.
  • Replace apples with pears or blueberries for a variation.
  • For a vegan version, substitute eggs with flax eggs and butter with plant-based butter.
  • If the bread browns too quickly, cover loosely with foil during the last 10–15 minutes of baking.
  • Drizzle a simple glaze made with powdered sugar and milk for extra sweetness.
