Brie Apple Fig Crostini is a quick and elegant fall appetizer that combines the creamy richness of brie, the sweetness of fig jam, and the tart crunch of fresh apples atop crispy toasted baguette slices. It’s perfect for entertaining or a cozy evening snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for brushing or spraying)
  • 8 ounces brie cheese, sliced
  • 2 medium crisp apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup fig jam or fig spread
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups water (for apple soak)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch pieces, cutting on an angle if desired for larger surface area.
  3. Lay the slices on a baking sheet and lightly brush or spray with olive oil.
  4. Toast in the oven for about 5–7 minutes until golden and crisp at the edges.
  5. While the bread is toasting, mix 1 teaspoon salt into 2 cups of water to create a brine.
  6. Soak the thinly sliced apples in the brine for 10 minutes, then rinse if desired and pat dry.
  7. Once the crostini are cooled, place a slice of brie on each toasted bread slice.
  8. Spoon a small dollop of fig jam over the brie.
  9. Top with a thin slice of apple.
  10. Serve immediately or within a couple of hours for best texture and appearance.

Notes

  • You can prepare the crostini bread and apple slices a few hours ahead of time.
  • Try drizzling honey or balsamic glaze on top for added flavor.
  • Substitute brie with camembert or goat cheese for variation.
  • Use gluten-free baguette for a gluten-free version.
