Christmas Monster Cookies are festive holiday cookies made with oats, chocolate chunks, white chocolate chips, salty pretzels, and colorful red and green M&M’s. They have crispy edges and gooey centers, making them perfect for gifting or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1 1/2 cups red and green holiday M&M’s, divided
  • 1 cup chopped salted pretzel twists
  • 1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chunks
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla until combined.
  3. Beat in the eggs and the egg yolk, one at a time, until fully incorporated.
  4. Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt; mix to combine.
  5. Stir in the oats.
  6. Fold in 1 cup of the M&M’s, the pretzels, chocolate chunks, and white chocolate chips.
  7. Roll the dough into 1/4 cup-sized balls and place them 3 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 8 minutes, then rotate the pan and bake for another 2 minutes.
  9. Pull the pan out and press the remaining M&M’s into the cookies, then bake for an additional 3 minutes.
  10. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet.
  11. Serve warm or store in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

Notes

  • To reduce spreading, omit the extra egg yolk for a thicker cookie.
  • For the best visual effect, press extra M&M’s on top before the final minutes of baking.
  • No chilling required—ideal for quick holiday baking.
  • Cookies will continue to cook slightly while cooling on the baking sheet.
