Creamy garlic parmesan chicken is a rich, one-skillet dinner that combines tender seared chicken breasts with a velvety garlic cream sauce. Ready in just 30 minutes, it’s perfect for weeknights yet elegant enough for guests.

Ingredients

  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Slice each chicken breast horizontally to create two thinner cutlets or pound to even thickness. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and half of the Italian seasoning.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Sear chicken for 5 minutes per side, or until golden and internal temperature reaches 165°F. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Lower the heat and melt butter in the same skillet. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream, scraping up any browned bits. Stir as the cream warms.
  5. Add Parmesan cheese and remaining Italian seasoning. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring, until the sauce thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  6. Return chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over each piece, and simmer for 3 more minutes to meld flavors. Garnish with parsley if using. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs instead of breasts for extra juiciness.
  • Substitute half-and-half or evaporated milk for a lighter version.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a touch of heat.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan melts better than pre-shredded cheese.
