A rich and comforting one-pot pasta dish that combines bold garlic flavor with a creamy, cheesy sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights, this meal comes together in just 20 minutes using pantry staples and is customizable with proteins or veggies.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz pasta (spaghetti, penne, or linguine)
  • 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups milk (whole preferred)
  • 1 cup water (or enough to cover pasta)
  • 3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese or sour cream (optional)
  • Chopped parsley or basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet or pot, melt the butter or heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  3. Pour in the dry pasta, milk, and enough water to just cover the pasta. Stir to combine and bring to a gentle boil.
  4. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook uncovered for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until pasta is al dente and most of the liquid has reduced.
  5. Stir in the Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning until the cheese is melted and sauce is creamy.
  6. If desired, add cream cheese or sour cream for extra richness and stir until fully incorporated.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley or basil and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use thin pasta like angel hair to reduce cooking time.
  • Preheat milk and water to speed up cooking.
  • Pre-minced garlic or garlic paste can save prep time.
  • Customize with cooked chicken, shrimp, or sautéed vegetables for a heartier meal.
  • Stir frequently to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
