A bright and zesty cranberry sauce made with only three ingredients: fresh cranberries, orange juice, and maple syrup. This naturally sweetened, vibrant side dish is perfect for holiday meals or everyday pairings with savory dishes.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (about 2–3 oranges)
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cranberries under cool water and discard any shriveled or damaged berries.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, orange juice, and maple syrup.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  4. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. As the cranberries soften and pop, mash them slightly with the back of a spoon if a smoother texture is desired.
  6. Remove from heat once the sauce thickens to your liking.
  7. Let it cool—sauce will continue to thicken as it sits.
  8. Serve warm, room temperature, or chilled. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.

Notes

  • Add orange zest for extra citrus flavor.
  • Swap maple syrup for honey or agave nectar if preferred.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon or ginger for a warm spice note.
  • Can be made up to 7 days in advance and stored refrigerated.
  • Freezes well for up to 2 months.
