A rich, herb-infused stuffing prepared effortlessly in a slow cooker. Perfectly moist, packed with flavor, and ideal for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 medium yellow onions, diced
  • 2 cups sliced celery
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
  • 6 cups dry white bread cubes
  • 6 cups dry brown bread cubes
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon fresh herbs (thyme, sage, or rosemary, optional)
  • 3 to 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Melt 1 cup of butter over medium heat. Stir in 2 teaspoons of poultry seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.
  2. Add diced onions and sliced celery. Cook for about 5 minutes, until softened but not browned. Let the mixture cool.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine white and brown bread cubes.
  4. Add the cooled vegetable mixture, chopped parsley, and optional fresh herbs.
  5. Gradually pour in 3 cups of chicken broth while gently stirring to moisten the bread. Add up to 1 extra cup if needed.
  6. Beat and mix in 2 eggs to bind the stuffing.
  7. Grease a 5–6 quart slow cooker and spoon in the stuffing mixture.
  8. Cook on HIGH for 30 minutes, then reduce to LOW and cook for 4 hours.
  9. If finished early, set the slow cooker to WARM until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Use day-old or oven-dried bread cubes for best texture.
  • Substitute vegetable broth and vegan butter for a vegetarian version.
  • Customize with add-ins like sausage, cranberries, or nuts for flavor variations.
