Ingredients
- 2 medium jalapeños, finely chopped (about 30 grams / 1 oz)
- 4 oz cream cheese softened
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (about 100 grams / 3.5 oz)
- 4 slices sturdy bread (sourdough or country white)
- 2 tbsp butter (28 grams)
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
Instructions
Prep the Jalapeño Cream Cheese (5 minutes): In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese with finely chopped jalapeños. Stir until evenly mixed and smooth. Set aside.
Butter the Bread (2 minutes): Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. If using garlic powder, sprinkle it on the buttered side.
Assemble the Sandwich (3 minutes): Flip bread slices butter-side down. Spread a generous layer of jalapeño cream cheese on two slices. Top with shredded cheddar cheese. Place remaining bread slices on top, butter side up.
Grill the Sandwich (5-7 minutes): Heat skillet over medium heat. Cook sandwiches 3-4 minutes per side until bread is golden and cheese is melted. Lower heat and cover if cheese isn’t melting before bread browns.
Rest and Serve (1 minute): Remove sandwiches from skillet and let rest for a minute before slicing.
